bases are substances which are slippery to touch,bitter in taste,turns red litmus to blue and remains blue in blue litmus,and also reacts with acids to form salts and gives OH- ions.ex:soap
acids are substances which are sour in taste,turns blue litmus to red and remains red in red litmus,and gives h+ ions.ex:vinegar
