↪ Bases are the substances which dissociates into OH- Ions in water .
These are bitter in taste and turns red litmus to blue .

The chemical which are sore in taste. and have corrosive nature is called acid. It have tendency to loose hydrogen (H+) ions in aqueous form.

The chemical which are bitter in taste and soapy in touch is called base. It have tendency to loose hydroxide (OH-) ions in aqueous form.
