AMPHOTERIC. OXIDES

Oxides of metals which have both acidic as well as basic behaviour are known as amphoteric oxide

metallic oxides react with acids as well as base to produce salt and water

EXAMPLE

. Examples of Amphoteric oxides are aluminium oxide and zinc oxide.

I HOPE THIS INFO HELPS U

\textbf{Amphoteric Oxides }:

Some metal oxides show both acidic as well as basic character. These metal oxides are called amphoteric oxides.

• Basic character :

ZnO + H2SO4 ----> ZnSO4 + H2O

• Acidic character :

ZnO + 2NaOH ----> Na2ZnO2 + H2O
