amphoteric oxides are the molecules or ions which react with both acid and base
al is amphoteric because it react with both.

ampoteric oxides are the oxides which can react with both base and acid so as to form salt and water
which means they can behalf as both acid and base as well
aluminum oxide reacts with both acid and base to give water and salt hence it is a amphoteric oxide
