Explanation:

Interneurons (also called internuncial neurons, relay neurons, association neurons, connector neurons, intermediate neurons or local circuit neurons) are neurons that connect two brain regions, i.e. not direct motor neurons or sensory neurons.

Hello! This is my answer to your question, pallavikireeti! Hope this helps you with your question

Association neurons or interneurons are part of the central nervous system. The center of the central nervous system is the spinal cord and the brain. The interneurons are inside the brain. BUT WAIT... what are the types of neurons? There are four types of neurons: Multipolar neurons, bipolar neurons, unipolar neurons, and the pseudopolar neurons. I will only give an overview of the 3 neurons (multipolar neurons, bipolar neurons, and unipolar neurons)

The ones you might see in drawings are called multipolar neurons. They are common and can be found in the brain and everywhere. The reason it is called multipolar neurons because it has a multi-way connection.

The second one, the bipolar neurons, are relatively rare. They can be found at the olfactory epithelium, the retina of the eye, and the ganglia vestibulocochlear nerve(located at the internal auditory meatus aka iam). The reason this is called bipolar is because it only has a two-way connection.

The third one is the unipolar neurons. The unipolar neurons are not that rare like the bipolar neurons. They are found within the skin, joints, muscles, and internal organs. The reason this is called unipolar is because it has only a one-way connection.
