• The mass of all the asteroids put togther is less than that Earth's moon. Asteroids can be very dangerous as many have hit earth Earth in the past. Scientists are very keen to study asteroids to know if any asteroids is headed towards Earth in future. Scientists believe that asteroids are parts of a planet which might have exploded long time back.

• Most asteroids lie in the vast belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The belt holds more than 200 asteroids larger than 60 miles in a diameter and millions of smaller ones.
