atoms are the smallest part if chemical element that can ever exist. different atoms have different masses. For example, all oxygen atoms have 8 protons and all sodium atoms have 11 protons. The mass number of an atom is the total number of protons and neutrons it contains.

An atom is the smallest particles of an element, which takes part in a chemical reaction and maintain it's chemical identity throughout all physical and chemical reactions.
The mass of an atom is the sum of the masses of protons(1.67262×10-²4 g) and neutron(9.10939×10-²6g)
