Answer: Organisms which are capable of making their own food by the help of their surroundings are called autotrophs.
Instαnces: Plants, bacteria, euglena, etc.
More: Autotrophs make their food by the help of photosynthesis. These happen during photosynthesis:-
- At first, chloroplasts absorb light energy during daytime.
- Then light energy is converted into chemical energy and water is broken into hydrogen and oxygen.
- And at last, carbon dioxide is reduced to form glucose.
- Oxygen is released as a by-product.
P.S.- Carbohydrates are synthesized inform of glucose, transported inform of sucrose and stored inform of starch. Products of photosynthesis are transported through the phloem which uses ATP. Unlike xylem, it doesn't depend on physical forces.
