Types

• Shape is one method of categorizing them. The fundamental forms are as follows:
• Cocci are bacteria that have the form of a ball, and a coccus is a single bacterium. Streptococcus, which causes "strep throat," is one example.
• Bacilli are rod-shaped microorganisms (singular bacillus). Curved bacteria can be found among rod-shaped germs. Vibrio is a term for them. Bacillus anthracis (B. anthracis), or anthrax, is one example of a rod-shaped bacterium.

• Spirilla: (singular spirillus). Spirochetes are parasitic fungi with an extremely tight coil. This kind of bacterium is responsible for leptospirosis, Lyme disease, and syphilis.
