What are beats? Prove that the number of beats produced per second

is equal to the difference between the frequencies of the two

superposing waves.

Two tuning forks gives 6 beats/sec when sounded simultaneously.

The frequency of one of the fork is 480 Hz. When the other fork is

loaded with a piece of wax, the beats increase. What is the frequency

of the second fork?my

Answer:

acoustics, a beat is an interference pattern between two sounds of slightly different frequencies, perceived as a periodic variation in volume whose rate is the difference of the two frequencies. With tuning instruments that can produce sustained tones, beats can be readily recognized.
