▶️Biodegradable substances are those substances which are broken down into simpler, harmless substances in nature in due course of time by the biological processes such as micro organisms like certain bacteria.

▶️Non-biodegradable substances are those substances which cannot be broken down into simpler, harmless substances in nature.

▶️Two biodegradable pollutants are agricultural waste and sewage.

Biodegradable substances

-The wastes that decompose. naturally in environment and are considered safe for environment are called as biodegradable substances.

EX-dead plants and animals , their waste , fruit , vegetable ,etc.

-the rate of decomposition is slow.

-decomposed by bacteria , fungi and other living organisms have the capability of decomposing the material into soil.

Non-biodegradable substances

-Such waste which do not decompose naturally in the environment causes pollution and are also harmful to the living being are called as non-biodegradable substances

EX-Chemicals, paints,plastics,rubber,toxic,metals,etc

-The rate of decomposition is fast

-These substances do not degrade easily or by the action of natural agents.
