Blended fibres are fibres which are made with two or more fibres to form a single variant. This variant shows the good and desirable qualities of the parent fibres that were used to make it.

 \bf Blending \: Fibres

We use the word 'blended' for things that are made from a combination of two or more substances. By mixing different kinds of fibres, a new fabric with unique properties can be created. Such fabrics are called blended fabrics. We can improve the characteristics that are poor in one fibre by blending it with another type of fabric that excels in those characteristics. For example, cotton blended with polyester will give you the comfort of cotton, along with the wrinkle-resistance character of polyester. Such fabric needs minimum care. These are highly durable and last longer.

Some of the blended fibres are given below:

Tyrolean and cotton blend, which is popularly known as terrycot, is used for making dress materials.

Tyrolean and wool blend is known as terrywool. This can be used as a substitute for costly woollen clothes.

A shirt made from polyester and cotton blend is more wrinkle-resistant than a shirt made from a hundred per cent cotton.

Cotton and lycra blend jeans are more comfortable, stretchable and fit better than cotton jeans.

Acrylic and wool blend trousers are less expensive than a hundred per cent wool trousers.
