They can be found in swamp areas like mangroves or in rainforest areas. In marshy areas, there is poor oxygen content and less nutrient soil. This results in roots getting less oxygen to breathe in for the process of photosynthesis. So, in order to get sufficient oxygen, the roots grow upwards.
