\huge\mathcal\color{teal} Answer :-

Buffer Solution :-

Solution which resists change in hydrogen ion concentration (and, thereby pH) on dilution, or with the addition of a small amount of an acid or a base

There are two types :-

  • Acidic buffer − equimolar mixture of a weak acid and its salt with a strong base. Example : mixture of acetic acid (CH3COOH) and sodium acetate (CH3COONa); pH = 4.75

  • Basic buffer − equimolar mixture of a weak base and its salt with a strong acid. Example : mixture of ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) and ammonium chloride (NH4Cl); pH = 9.25

Hope it helps !
