What are cathode rays and how do they differ from positive rays?

I THINK so cathode rays mean positive rays and they r same

Origin of positive rays : When potential difference is applied across the electrodes, electrons (cathode rays) are emitted from the cathode. As they move towards anode, they gain energy. These energetic electrons which collide with the atoms of the gas in the discharge tube, they ionize the atoms.
