chordates are :- an animal of the large phylum Chordata, comprising the vertebrates together with the sea squirts and lancelets.

features are :-

notochord present

bilateral symmetry

these characters are only present during embryonic development in chordates.
The notocard provides skeletal support give the phylum its name and develop into the vertebral column in vertebrates. The dorsal hollow nerve cord develops into the central nervous system. the brain and spine.
