An organelle containing any plant pigment other than chlorophyll. The pigments may be yellow, orange, or red. Chromoplasts are usually most numerous in the cells of flowers.

A chromoplast is a pigmented plastid found in certain plant cells. Chromoplast are found in fruits, flower, roots, and ageing leaves, and are responsible for there distinctive colours. Chromoplast synthesize and store pigment such as orange carotine, yellow xanthophylls and various other red pigment.
