SWChromosomes are thread like structures in the nucleus which carry hereditary information. The no. of chromosomes is fixed for a particular species like humans. Humans have 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs. Chromosomes can be seen rod like only when the cell is to divide else they are always seen as entangled mass of thread like structures.
Chromosomes have genes which have the genetic material DNA.
