Such a group of words which forms part of a sentence, and contains a subject and a predicate, is called a Clause. For example:
We cannot start while it is raining.
In this sentence, 'while it is raining' is the clause of this sentence. In which 'it' is the subject and 'is raining' is the predicate.

Hey mate!

Here's your answer!!

✔️A clause is a group of related words containing both subject and a verb.

✔️The subject is who or what and the verb is action.

➡ There are two major types of clauses:

◾️Main clause ➡ A main clause is a clause which explains the complete meaning if the sentence. It can stand alone and is an independent clause.

◾️Subordinate clause ➡ They are the clauses which alone cannot express the complete meaning and depend on main clause, and therefore, also known as dependent clauses.
