QUESTION :- What are co-prime numbers? Give some examples.

ANSWER :-

☞ Two numbers or integers are co-prime if their common factor is only 1.

☞ There should be a minimum of two numbers to form a set of coprime numbers.

☞ Such numbers have only 1 as their highest common factor.

EXAMPLES

When a co - prime number

→ 5 and 9

5 factors = 1 and 5

9 factors = 1, 3 and 9

Both have only 1 as a greatest common factor. Hence Both are co-prime numbers.

→ 4 and 7

4 factors = 1, 2 and 4

7 factors = 1 and 7

Both have only 1 as a greatest common factor. Hence Both are co-prime numbers.

When not a co - prime number

→ 2 and 8

2 factors = 1 and 2

8 factors = 1, 2, 4 and 8

Both have 1 and 2 as greatest common factor. Hence Both are not co-prime numbers.
