What are coliform bacteria how does it indicate the pollution level of water.

Coliform bacteria are defined as rod shaped Gram negetative and non - spore forming and motile which can ferment lactose with the production of acid and gas when incubated at 35-37° C.

There are three types of coliform bacteria .Each is an indicator of drinking water quantity and each has a different level of risk.
