COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

Communicable diseases are those which can spread from one person to another.Such diseases are caused by germs. The germs can be bacteria, viruses or protozoa which are so small that they can be seen under a microscope.

Germs from a sick person enter a healthy person either through food, water, air, a cut or wound, an insect-bite or through his belongings.

Some insects also carry germs. When we come in contract with them, the germs can enter in our body.

Some communicable diseases are-

  1. Common cold, Measles, Chickenpox, Tuberculosis and Whooping cough        are caused due to contracting with a sick person through his sneezing, coughing or things used by him. Its ways of spreading are viruses and bacteria.
  2. Cholera, Typhoid, Food poisoning and Diarrhoea are caused due to infected food and polluted water. Its ways of spreading are bacteria and protozoa.
