A prime number has only two factors: 1 and itself. A composite number has more than two factors. The number 1 is neither prime nor composite. The prime numbers between 2 and 31 are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29 and 31 since each of these numbers has only two factors, itself and 1.

Composite numbers are numbers which have factors others than 1 and the number itself. In simple words, they are the numbers which can be divisible by numbers other than 1 and the number itself. All even numbers except 2 are composite numbers. Ex- 4,6,9, etc.

The difference between prime number and composite number is that prime numbers are divisible only with 1 and the number itself, while composite numbers have various other factors.
