A conjunction is the glue that holds words, phrases and clauses (both dependent and independent) together. There are three different kinds of conjunctions––coordinating, subordinating, and correlative––each serving its own, distinct purpose, but all working to bring words together.

______________________________

A Conjuction is a word which merely joins together sentences and sometimes words.

Conjuctions join together sentences and often make them more compact; thus, ' Balu and Vishal are good bowlers.'

In a short way of saying
Balu is a good bowler and Vishal is a good bowler'.

So,
'The man is poor, but honest.'

In a contracted way of saying
'The man is poor, but he is honest ".
