Answer:

First we should understand why solar cookers and dish antenna's have concave mirror.

The dish antenna's and solar cookers have concave shape because of the following reason :

1. The Parallel rays coming from sun (located at infinity) get reflected from the concave mirror and meet at the focus. The cooker is placed at the focus and the concentrated solar energy is used for heating and cooking.

2. Similarly the radio waves from satellites are reflected from the concave surface of antenna's and meet at the focus where the receiver is kept.

Now if the solar cookers and antenna dishes have convex shape then the parallel rays or waves will be diverged upon reflection . Hence the rays will not meet at a single point .

As a result, concentrated heat energy cannot be used in solar cookers . Similarly the digital data cannot be transmitted through antenna dish.

Convex shape in these appliances will hence be of no use .

Reason why Concave Shape is used in Dish Antenna or Solar cooker:

They converge light to a single point (and so focus the heat there).

If convex Shaped is used :

The light will reflect up and away from the focal point of a convex mirror.

Moreover :

If These tools are designed in The shape of Convex mirror then it can not converge the light rays and trap the light rays thus due to the absence of no heat , food will not cook.

Convex mirrors form virtual and erect images irrespecive of the position of the object.
