Consumers depends on either the producers or other consumers for their survival.

  • Producers are mainly the green plants that make their own food using different process.
  • Consumers are the organisms that feed or eat producers as well as other consumers for their food.
  • Tertiary and secondary consumers feed on primary consumer for their food like hawk (Quaternary consumer) feed on snake (Tertiary consumer) and snake feed on rat (secondary consumer) that eat grasshopper (primary consumer).

Hence, Consumers depends on producers and other consumers for their food and thus survival.

Predation is a biological process in which one creature, the predator, kills and consumes another, the prey.

Explanation:

  • Predators may seek out and pursue prey forcefully, or they may wait for it invisibly. A predator must decide whether or not to attack prey when it detects it. After stalking the victim, ambush or pursue predation may be used.
  1. Herbivores can only survive if they can eat plant matter.
  2. Only by catching their prey can carnivores survive.
  3. Omnivores can live in a range of habitats since they eat both plants and animals.
  • If the predator succeeds in his attack, the prey is killed and eaten after any inedible parts, such as the shell or spines, are removed. The success rate of each species differs, with pack animals being more likely to kill their prey.
