cork is bark of tree. cork cells are their building blocks which are microscopic ( can't be seen with naked eyes ) . they were first observed by discoverer of cell " ROBERT HOOK "

A mature cork cell is non living and has a cell walls that are composed of waxy substance that is highly permeable to gases and water called suberin. The layer of dead cells formed by Cork cambium provides the internal cells of the plants with extra insulation and protection.
