it was first introduced in Britain in 1804, when the land owners ,who dominated the parliament, sought to protect their profits by imposing a duty on imported corns.During the Nepoleonic war it was not possible to import corn from europe. This led to the expansion of British wheat farming and to high bread prices....

Impact

corn laws were the laws that restricted the import of corn in Britain. this laws prevailed in the late eighteenth century. Restriction were imposed on the import of corn by the government under the pressure from landed groups who sold corn at high prices because of increased demand . People were unable to afford expansive food grains and forced the government to scrap the corn laws....
