the compounds formed by the sharing of electrons is called as covalent compounds . they are different over ionic compounds because ionic compounds are formed by the complete transference of electrons

the properties of ionic compounds are :

1) they have strong forces of attraction

2) low melting and boiling points

3) conduct electricity in molten state and not in solid state

Covalent compounds are formed by the sharing of electrons between two elements. E.g. HCl,CO2 etc.

Ionic compounds are formed by lossing and gaining of eletorns. E.g. NaCl

Properties of covalent compounds are:

1. They have low melting and boiling points.

2. They are britle.

3. They have poor electical conductivity.
