The covalent bonds are the bonds which are formed due to equal sharing of electrons between two atoms. Ionic bonds are the bonds which are formed due to donation and acceptance of electrons
properties of covalent compounds are:-

* They are formed by orbital overlap

* covalent compound have low boiling and melting points

* They have directional properties

■ Compounds which are formed by sharing of electron are called covalent compounds.

■ they are different from ionic compounds because they do not have ions.

■ Ionic compounds are formed by transfer of electrons.

Properties

♤ 1. Low melting and boiling points

♤ 2. Do not conduct electricity in molten state or in an aqueous solution.

♤ 3. They are mostly insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents.
