Crest-the highest point on the elevation of the medium whose distance from the meant position is minimum is known as crest

Trough-the lowest point on the depression of the medium whose distance from the meant position is maximum is known as trough

Compression-the region of a medium where the density of a medium is maximum is called compression

Rarefaction-the region of a medium where the density of a medium is minimum is called rarefaction
