Data entry machines are electronic machines with data input devices. Their main purpose is to computerise the data written on paper or available elsewhere. All data related to payrolls, salaries, employee data, student data, population data etc. are entered into databases by typing in and/or through mouse selection.
Many typists, clerks, or back office persons do this work. After data entry is done, the software program can process the data. It can show us an analysis of the data. So we can make decisions.
Now OCR/OMR machines are available. So data entry machines automatically scan written papers. They make entries directly in the computer database. Manual typing is not needed.
Data entry machines have a keyboard, a screen and optionally a mouse, a tablet, a touch pen, a scanner, and a printer.
