The decomposers are known as organisms of decay as these are microorganisms which feed on decaying and dead organic matter. They breakdown the remains of desd animals and plants, releasing substances that can be used by othe organisms.

If they are absent in an ecosystem the waste, dead bodies of animals and bird will not decompose as they create space for the growth of new organisms they clean waste from environment also...........
