1) As per the system of scientific forestry, natural forests which had different types of forests were cut down. Instead, one type of tree was planted in a single row which is known as plantation
2) Shifting cultivation was adopted, by which old forests were burnt down and on the ashes seeds were sown over and after the monsoon, new saplings are grown which are later harvested in October – November.
3) This cultivation method was considered as harmful practice as the land which was used for cultivation every few years could not yield good timber which are used to build railway tracks, sleepers etc
4) Valuable timber and forest products are damaged by flames that spread when a forest is burnt in shifting cultivation method
