The defects of scientific forestry were-
1. As per system of scientific forestry , natural forest which has different types of forests were cut down. Instead, at their place one type of plant were planted.
2. Shifting cultivation was adopted, by which old forests were burnt down.
3. This cultivation method was considered as harmful practice as the land which was used by cultivation every few years.
4. Valuable timber and forest products were damaged by flames.
