Demonstrative Adjectives :-

A demonstrative adjective is a special adjective ( often called a determiner ) that identifies a noun or pronoun by expressing its position as near or far ( including in time ) . The demonstrative adjectives are 'this ' , 'that' , ' these ' and ' those'.

A demonstrative adjective always comes first in the noun phase . ( e.g., " this big dog " , " that ugly one in the corner " ).

Easy examples of Demonstrative adjectives

In the examples , the noun or pronoun being modified is in bold

  • That lady looks worried.
  • Take this ones away.
  • Put those tins in the cupboard.

( Here , the demonstrative adjective is modifying a pronoun)

Possessive Adjectives :-

The Possessive adjectives are my , your , his , her , it's, our , their , and whose . A possessive adjective sits before a noun (or a pronoun) to show who owns it.

Easy Examples of possessive adjectives

In the examples, below the possessive adjectives are shaded .

  • She likes your hat.

[ The possessive adjective " your " sits before the noun " hat" to tell us who owns it.]

  • I think her dog has eaten my gerbil .

Adjective of Quantity give information about the quantity of a thing .

We use the adjective of quantity with a noun.

We get this numeral adjectives to know the quantity by asking the question 'how much ? ' to a noun or pronoun .

These quantity telling words give information to us about the number of nouns. They do not tell the exact number.

We use adjectives of quantity when we dont want the exact number of nouns.
