Derived Quantity

The units of all physical quantities other than length, mass, time, electric current, temperature, amount of substance and luminous intensity are obtained by raising one or more of the fundamental quantities to suitable powers. Such units are called derived units. The derived derived units of certain physical quantities are obtained below:

1. Volume = length × breadth × height

=> Volume = m × m × m = m³

2. Density = mass / volume

=> Density = kg / m³

3. Velocity = Displacement / Time

=> Velocity = m / s
