PLANT TISSUE -
- Two types of tissues are present in the plants namely meristematic and the permanent cluster of cells.
- The tissues are divided based on their capacity to divide.
1. MERISTEMATIC TISSUE
- Undifferentiated mass of cell and have the ability to divide.
- Simple tissue that is formed by coordination of single type of cell.
- Living isodiametric cells that are small in size with large lumens.
- Cells are densely packed lacking intercellular space between them
- Example - Ground meristem, procambium.
2. PERMANENT TISSUE
- Differentiated cells and do not have the ability to divide.
- Simple or complex tissues are based on the combination of cells coordinating together.
- The cells composed can be living or non-living.
- Large-sized cells with varying shapes.
- Example - Parenchyma, Sclerenchyma.
