What are differences between alkali and bases??

1.Alkali compound are a type of base that dissolve in water .

1.A base is a substance that neutralises an acid .

2.Hydroxide is common form.

2.NaOH is an example .

3.Baking soda is an alkali substance .

3.KOH is an another example.

4.All alkalis are bases .


4.but all bases are not alkalis .

5.alkali is subset of base .

5.bases does not necessary so

Bases

Bases are metal oxides that have a pH value greater than 7. They are insoluble in water. Bases react with acid and neutralise them.

Eg. Ferrous oxide, calcium oxide, etc.

Alkalis

________

Alkalis are also metal oxides which possess OH- ions. They are soluble in water.

Eg. Sodium or potassium hydroxide etc.
