There are two types of pure substances that are Elements and Compounds. Examples of elements are:Iron, Silver, Gold,Mercury etc. Examples of compounds are:  Water, Carbon dioxide, methane,vinegar etc.

• What are different categories of pure substances ?

: Any substance is said to be pure, when it is only made up of single type of particles.

There are two types of pure substances -
1 ) Elements.
2) Compounds.

• Elements - It is a substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances.

• Compounds - A substance made up or composed by two or more elements, called as compound.
