I feel that you might be conflating Evolution with the Theory of Evolution, the former being and observable phenomenon, while the latter is a compilation of observations, models, predictions and mechanisms which explain how Evolution happens.

As such, the best evidence for Evolution is that it is observable, as in its simplest form, Evolution is “the change in the inherited traits of a population of organisms through successive generations”. Period. We see this happening.

This has been known for thousands of years, long before Darwin formulated the first working theory on how it occurs through Mutations, Variation and Natural Selection.

As such, there isn’t really any real disagreement about it happening. Even Creationists agree, just don’t call it Evolution.
