Factors responsible for colour of a transition metal ions :

(a) The presence of incompletely filled d – orbitals in metal ions.

(b) The presence of unpaired electrons in d – orbitals.

(c) d – d transition of electrons due toabsorption of radiation in the visible region.

NOOBSCIENCESTUDENT: idk :)
kushal2002: ?????
NOOBSCIENCESTUDENT: i dont know about that sorry bro
NOOBSCIENCESTUDENT: but i probably think that is incorrect
kushal2002: A is correct because if there will be unpaired electons then only other other electron can pair with it and energy gap present lead to change or imparting of colour happens
kushal2002: is that explainatio fine
NOOBSCIENCESTUDENT: oh yes you are correct thanks bro
NOOBSCIENCESTUDENT: :)
kushal2002: welcome
NOOBSCIENCESTUDENT: you are absoutely correct because when I thought about it more I found that Zn,Cd and Hg are colourless as they have completely filled d-orbital
