If a country has vast longitudinal extent, there comes demand of multiple time zones

What does this mean?

1 country →different states might have different time zones that is different times . Taking example of india lets analyze pros and cons

Pros

1.) better utilization of day light.

2.)Less utilization of artificial lighting for doing work thereby saving energy and hence reducing carbn emissions.

3.)like in arunachal sun rises as early as 4:00am so they can set time accordingly to better utilize the sunlight.

They is a historical demand of “chai bagan”(tea garden) time zone.(since tea plantations is an important economic activity of the region)

But the govt. is skeptial . Why?

Looking into literacy level of a country like india ,it will need to change time tables ,schedules of trains going from 1 time zone to another.it will create discomfort.

Otherwise there are more pros than cons for multiple time zones.

Hope it helps you
