Or it is a report of the exact words used by a person
Eg) She says "What time will you be home?
Indirect Speech
Reporting about what other person has said or not using the actual words
Eg) She said she had seen me.

Direct speech:-
lt describes when something is repeated exactly as it was - usually in b/w a pair of inverted commas.
eg:-He said "l am comming"
lndirect speech:-
lndirect speech is a means of expressing the content of statement ,question or other utterances,without quoting them explicity as is done in direct speech.
eg:-He said that he was comming.
