Ozone or trioxygen, is an unstable gas that kills pathogens. It is used in water treatment plants.It protects us from the harmful Ultraviolet rays of the Sun. Also, ozone forms constantly( the ozone holes are being reduced in size) and hence has the ability to heal itself ( I'm talking about the ozone layer).

But, it is a highly reactive chemical that you shouldn't keep contact with. It, particularly, shouldn't be inhaled and is irritating to the eyes. In the water industry, it has to be constantly monitored because of its toxicity.
