what are double rainbows?

While a primary rainbow is visible when light is reflected once off the back of a raindrop, a secondary and usually dimmer rainbow is spotted when light is reflected twice in a more complicated pattern. The colors of the second rainbow are inverted, with blue on the outside and red moved to the inside.

Why does a double rainbow form?

As the light reflects back out of the raindrop, it bends again. That internal reflection produces the arc of sunlight spread out across its spectrum of colors -- a rainbow. Pigott said a double rainbow is formed when there are two reflections inside a raindrop.

Why these are inverted?

While a primary rainbow is visible when light is reflected once off the back of a raindrop, a secondary and usually dimmer rainbow is spotted when light is reflected twice in a more complicated pattern. The colors of the second rainbow are inverted, with blue on the outside and red moved to the inside.
hope this helped you....
