Dwarf planet refers to those celestial object that is neither a planet or natural satellite.
To become a planet a celestial object has to fulfill 3 criteria --
1) It had to be in orbit around Sun.
2) It should have a nearly round shape
3)It should have cleared it's neighbourhood around its own orbit.

But what this cleaning of neighbourhood mean?
Cleaning of neighbourhood means that a planet has no other celestial object near it's orbit other than its natural satellite. But Pluto has neighbourhood that is the Kuiper Belt.

Although Pluto fulfills the 2 criteria it doesn't fulfill the 3rd that makes it a dwarf planet

The two other dwarf planets are Eris And Ceres
