The author's early impression of his grandmother was that she was an old woman like everybody's grandmother. She had been old and wrinkled for the twenty years that he had known her and he found it hard to believe when people said that she used to be young and pretty. To him,she could not be associated with being a child or a young woman, for him she had always been short, fat, slightly bent and incredibly old with wrinkles being chief markers on her face.
