Earthquakes are also known as tremors and can be felt by sudden shaking of the Earth's Surface. The ground shakes so hard that buildings collapse, roads and bridges smash and electric wires break and cause fire. Earthquakes are caused by severe shock waves which travel through the underground solid rock material in the interior of Earth. They also arise under the seabed.
