Elastic collisions is an encounter between two bodies in which the total kinetic energy of the two bodies after the encounter is equal totheir total kinetic energy before the encounter. Eg.,
When we throw a ball on the floor, it bouncess back , this is an example of elastic collision.
Inelastic collision in contrast to a elastic collision , is a collision in which kinetic energy is not conserved due to the action of internal friction. Eg., the car crashing against the tree is an example of inelastic collision.
